Top 5 Critical Preventative Controls for Gout
In the past few years I’ve been having Gout attacks because I have violated one or more of these controls. I call these the 5 critical controls for preventing gout. Maintaining your body and meeting each of these control is critical to preventing your Gout attacks from happening again.
Here are the 5 controls in equal order of importance.
1. Watch your diet
I’m sure most are aware that eating too much of anything let alone any of the following things on the this top 10 list does no good to your Gout. There are many foods on this list that contains high amounts of purines. Purines are chemical compounds in foods that get broken down by your body into uric acid. Uric acid build up is what causes Gout.
Depending on your metabolism, you may choose to eat foods with high purines sparingly, or not at all. Binge eating or drinking only increases your risk of gout attacks as your organs are overloaded with processing all the purines in your body, it may take a very long time for your body to flush them out. As you age, watching your diet becomes increasingly important as your body is no longer capable of processing food items at the same speed they use to be.
